The attack happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Wonderland Station when a woman hailed the ride-share driver, transit police said. The ride ordered was for a single female passenger, but when the driver arrived at the station, a man and woman got into the car.

The male passenger got angry when the driver explained he'd need to cancel, but there would be no charge.

The woman climbed out of the car, but as the man slid out the passenger door, he turned back and punched the driver in the head, transit police said. The hit opened up a cut above the driver's right eye. He swung again and hit the driver in the ear, authorities continued. The passenger then got out and ran away.

Police found a man in the parking deck of the MBTA station that matched a description the driver gave officers. The man admitted to police that he'd assaulted the driver, transit police said. Officials charged him with assault and battery.
